SALT LAKE CITY (June 23, 2026) – The Organizing Committee for the 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Games celebrated Olympic Day by publishing the first edition of its Utah 2034 Games Plan Version 1. It’s the first installment of what the Organizing Committee sees as an annually updated document designed to inform stakeholders and the public and to solicit feedback.

“Our Games Plan is a discussion document designed to serve as a framework for engagement with our stakeholder communities,” said Utah 2034 Vice President of Games Delivery Darren Hughes. “We’re on a journey to 2034, and we want our stakeholders and delivery partners to come along with us. The Utah 2034 Games Plan informs us of our direction and what elements are important to us, but it is also a tool for us to gauge what’s important for the public.”

The Games Plan is built as an overarching strategic roadmap for the Games. It highlights the Utah 2034 Games vision and how it will be realized by the Organizing Committee and its delivery partners.

The Games Plan is organized into five portfolios: Impact, Experience, Engage, Deliver, and Enable.

The core of the document is derived from the Future Host Questionnaire developed by the former bid committee in 2024. It has been enhanced with the latest information, integrating the Organizing Committee’s accomplishments over the first 15 months of its journey and outlining key areas for future planning.

With the Games still nearly eight years out, a Games Lifecycle outlines key periods of planning, readiness, and execution. From now until 2030, referred to as Strategic Horizon One, the Organizing Committee is focused on establishing the organizational, financial, partnership, and planning foundations needed to move Utah 2034 from an early transition to confident, integrated Games Planning. Beginning in 2030, Strategic Horizon Two will take the organization through operational planning and readiness processes, the delivery of the 2034 Winter Games, and the transition to Games legacy realization.

The Organizing Committee has defined five portfolio areas outlined in the Olympic Host Contract with the International Olympic Committee:

Impact
The Impact portfolio focuses on ensuring the Games create positive outcomes and long-term legacies for communities across Utah. It encompasses the people, places, economy, and environment connected to the Games, advancing sustainability and legacy priorities while contributing to the values and purpose of the Olympic and Paralympic Movements.

Experience
The experience of the Games can be felt by local communities to people around the globe through both physical and digital means – before, during, and after the Games. The experience includes everything from the torch relay to ceremonies and sport competitions.

Engage
Engagement in the Games connects local communities, stakeholders, and fans worldwide – together with Olympic and Paralympic brands, values, and purpose. These meaningful connections build excitement and maximize the reach of the Games. The engagement is wrapped together through the brand, identity, and look of the Games, creating a special culture around Utah 2034 and connecting local Utah communities with stakeholders and fans worldwide.

Deliver
The operational aspects of the Games are centered in delivery of the events, venues, services, technology, and infrastructure. This is a wide-ranging portfolio that touches on dozens of key areas where the Organizing Committee will work in concert with local, regional, state, and federal authorities to ensure seamless delivery of the Games.

Enable
To enable the implementation of the Games, the Organizing Committee must build a lean, adaptable, excellence-focused ecosystem – all within a balanced budget. It entails innovative revenue generation through commercial and philanthropic channels, as well as a strong ticketing and hospitality program. Strong planning, the implementation of well-defined business practices, and the education of staff and stakeholders are vital to the Organizing Committee’s success.
